We were building websites before your phone could browse them. Twenty-two years later, we’re still here. Still building. This is how it started.
The First Project
In 1999, a student named Chris was working in a high school computer lab in North Carolina — teaching himself Photoshop, making band flyers, figuring things out. His school administrator, Mr. Bey, had just received a U.S. patent for a fishing lure that mimicked the motion of a swimming fish in flowing water. There was nothing else like it on the market.
Mr. Bey knew his product. He knew nothing about branding. So he asked the kid in the computer lab for help.
Chris had never done a real client project. But he treated it like everything was riding on it — logos, marketing collateral, early digital animations. Two weeks of work. When Mr. Bey saw the deliverables, he pulled out his checkbook on the spot. Chris refused. Then refused again. He finally, reluctantly, accepted $150.
That transaction started everything.
2004 — The Name, The Domain, The Agency
The years between 1999 and 2004 were full of projects and hard lessons — including a failed t-shirt company that taught a simple truth: focus on a core set of services and do them right. Don’t spread thin.
On March 17th, 2004, the BuzzBoom.com domain was purchased and Buzz Boom Creative launched as a full-service creative agency. The first site was a temporary landing page — it generated so much business it delayed the real launch by months. A good problem to have.
That’s 22 years of real work. Not a pivot. An evolution.
Every Shift. Still Standing.
2007 — the mobile era changed how people browsed. We adapted.
2010 — social media changed how brands communicated. We adapted.
2022 — AI changed how content gets made. We adapted — and we were clear about what it is: a tool, not the whole skillset.
Experience is what you can’t fake and can’t rush. Twenty-two years of it is the credential.
